Lect. Dr. Bianca Gălățeanu

From the very beginning of my research activity, my work was focused on the cells/biomaterials interactions for biomedical purposes. Over the last 15 years of scientific activity, I followed this topic undergoing various approaches in our group: from tissue engineering for regenerative purposes to wound healing dressings and drugs delivery systems for targeted and personalized therapy. My current work is focused on the development of modern approaches in colorectal cancer research and patients management. For this, together with a highly interdisciplinary team composed of biochemists, surgeons, engineers, and pharmacists, I approach the following research topics: (I) colorectal cancer modeling in cutting edge biomimetic tumor-on-chip systems, (ii) liquid biopsy, and (iii) development of nanoscaled drug delivery systems for targeted delivery of colorectal cancer therapy.

Current professional position: Lecturer – Faculty of Biology, University of Bucharest and Scientific Researcher III (CSIII) – Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Bucharest.

Research areas of expertise: Nanocarriers for targeted drug delivery, Colorectal cancer modeling in tumor-on-chip microfluidic platforms, Liquid biopsy, Biomaterials for regenerative medicin
