Dr. Andrada Ianuș

Dr. Andrada Ianuş is a Lecturer in Healthcare Engineering at the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, King’s College London, UK.

Her research focuses on advanced MRI techniques for mapping tissue microstructure, with applications in preclinical and clinical contexts both for neuroimaging and cancer imaging.

Dr. Ianuş earned her BSc in Physics from Jacobs University Bremen, Germany, and completed her PhD in Medical and Biomedical imaging at University College London in 2016, where she developed novel diffusion MRI methods.

Her postdoctoral work at UCL, supported by an EPSRC Doctoral Prize fellowship, advanced imaging techniques and translated theoretical findings into experimental applications.

As a Research Fellow at Champalimaud Foundation, in Lisbon, Portugal, she studied brain microstructural changes in Alzheimer’s disease, earning prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie and La Caixa Junior Leader fellowships. Recently, her work has expanded to cancer imaging, aiming to develop sensitive and specific imaging biomarker for the diagnosis and management of rectal cancer and liver metastases, with research supported by prestigious European grants such as THCS and the ERC Starting grant.

An active academic mentor and tutor, Dr. Ianuş has co-supervised PhD and master’s students and organized international workshops for the ISMRM, where she currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Iberian Chapter.

Overall she is dedicated to driving innovation in imaging science and technology for the benefit of patients.
